description
The graph compares the volume, in tonnes, of bombs dropped on the German steel industry (top) with the volume of steel produced, in millions of tonnes (bottom) during the Second World War (1940-1945). The hatched areas correspond to steel produced in Germany, the black areas to steel produced in the occupied territories. The dark grey corresponds to the bombs dropped on the towns in which the factories were located; the light grey corresponds to the “precision” bombing of the factories, which can be seen a little at the beginning of 1943 and at the end of 1944.
